Before you start

The final battle allows up to 25 deployable units, so bring the widest roster carried forward from every completed route.

On the map†

Two linked battles with a dungeon between them, kept separate here. (1) Showdown vs. Lyrah, at Gate IX: Kai Yang - Temple of Balor: victory is defeating Lyrah. Her dragon form is reduced to 0 HP, after which she returns to humanoid form for a second phase and your units are rearranged. (2) After a dungeon section, Balor's Last Stand at the Temple of Balor: victory is defeating Balor. After Balor falls, Game8 says there is a short dungeon section and one more battle against a last enemy, which its page does not detail; the S-Rank choice comes before the closing cutscene and epilogues.

Objectives

Victory: Defeat Lyrah (Showdown vs. Lyrah).
Defeat: Eshmel falls in battle (Showdown vs. Lyrah).
Victory: Defeat Balor (Balor's Last Stand).
Defeat: Eshmel falls in battle (Balor's Last Stand).

Tactics

Showdown vs. Lyrah: bring a few fliers; they move far, can stay out of the miasma on inaccessible terrain, and can chase Lyrah.
Showdown vs. Lyrah: do not spend everything on Lyrah, as more enemies and a hectic fight follow her defeat.
Showdown vs. Lyrah: miasma appears after an enemy moves (a larger area for larger enemies) and fades after a few turns. Hold one area and defeat the enemies that come to you first.
Showdown vs. Lyrah: she teleports away when you get close, until she reaches the bottom right of the map. Thin out the reinforcements, then send fliers to trigger the teleport, then surround her.
Between the two battles, clear the dungeon: open every chest, defeat every enemy for experience, and use the rest spots before facing Balor.
Balor's Last Stand: the battle allows 25 units, or three squads plus Eshmel. Destroy the gates that spawn and attack Balor on the same turn, before his shield returns.
Balor's Last Stand: put the highest-movement units in the two side squads, which kill reinforcements and run from gate to gate. The middle squad works on Balor.
Balor's Last Stand: Balor ignites platforms and spews miasma in large area attacks. Do not end a turn on those tiles.
Balor's Last Stand: do not attack Balor while his shield is up. He takes almost no damage and hits back with a plus-shaped area attack. He counterattacks whenever he is hit, so spread your units out.
