Recruit

Plan

On Dietrich's route, Buccar requires 3S support, 8R renown and clearing Leda's Paralogue.

  1. Part I, chapter 1

Give Buccar one liked gift every in-game week (Rare Spices, Village Recipes, Mature Ghosh or Volcano Ghosh) and pair him with the player in meals, arena training, temple service, thermae or theatre until his support level reaches 3.† unverified

  2. Part I, chapter 1

Prioritise quests from the very start of the route (Dietrich's specialised Challenge Letters above all), plus divine audiences, skirmishes and main-story progression, to climb to 8R before recruiting Buccar.† unverified

  3. Part I, chapter 9

Accept Leda's Paralogue "Diversionary Tactics" inside its 2/9–8/9 window and clear it, since clearing it is what recruits Buccar.

Research notes
  • Give Buccar one liked gift every in-game week (Rare Spices, Village Recipes, Mature Ghosh or Volcano Ghosh) and pair him with the player in meals, arena training, temple service, thermae or theatre until his support level reaches 3. Why: Satisfies the gate's 3S support component, which is Buccar's own support level with the player. Gifts bought from the Shopping Arcade gift shop and the Tavern at Lowtown cheap-gift shop; other support activities per the Game8 support guide
  • Prioritise quests from the very start of the route (Dietrich's specialised Challenge Letters above all), plus divine audiences, skirmishes and main-story progression, to climb to 8R before recruiting Buccar. Why: Satisfies the gate's 8R renown component. Quests are the largest single renown source; Challenge Letters are Dietrich's route-specific quest type
  • Accept Leda's Paralogue "Diversionary Tactics" inside its 2/9–8/9 window and clear it, since clearing it is what recruits Buccar. Why: Satisfies the gate's "clear Leda's Paralogue" component. Paralogue "Diversionary Tactics", Dietrich's route, chapter 9

Missing plan details

  • no chapter/renown-level correspondence found for Dietrich's route, so the chapter at which 8R is reached is unknown
  • no support points-per-action value or points-per-rank threshold found anywhere; support pacing is a one-action-per-week assumption
  • no source reconciles Buccar's earliest recorded chapter (4) with Leda's Paralogue's Dietrich chapter entry (9)
  • no source confirms whether Buccar's support can be raised before he joins the roster

Story and profile

Who they are

Buccar is a veteran from Baphos in Arago who once held the rank of Pilus prior. He met Leda's father in Dagsion more than twenty years ago, served him for years, and left Cydonia with Leda after her father died. He still calls her princess out of habit. He likes cooking and mentoring young people, values loyalty and training, and wants above all for Leda to find some happiness.

Buccar is a tank. His HP and Strength growths are both 50%, with Defence at 45%, but Guardian's Duty only cuts damage taken to 90%, which is why the guide rates him C where other lists say B. He prefers Axe, Heavy, Rider and Spear skills and dislikes both magic schools. Speed at 25% and Resistance at 20% make mages and fast enemies his problem. The guide's path is Gladiator, Light Cavalry, Bardinger, Bau Lord, though the author finds Bardinger weak and keeps most cavalry in Light Cavalry.

He joins in Part 1, automatically on Leda's route; Dietrich and Theodora can also recruit him.
