Plan

On Cai's route, Io requires 3 support levels with the player, 10 renown, and 4000G.

  1. Part I, chapter 1

Raise Io's own support level with the player to 3 by giving him a liked gift or sharing a meal, arena session, temple service, feast, theatre or thermae visit with him once per in-game week from the first free-time window on Cai's route.† unverified

  2. Part I, chapter 1

Prioritise quests, and specifically Cai's route's Kindness Quests, plus divine audiences, skirmishes and paralogue clears, from the start of Cai's route to accumulate the 10 renown the gate demands.† unverified

  3. Part I, chapter 1

Build a 4000G reserve by selling spare weapons and items at the Dagsion Shopping Arcade vendors, prioritising Gold Mummy skirmish drops for Bullion to sell, and using inn Search rewards, from early on Cai's route.† unverified

Story and profile

Who they are

Io once rode as a knight of Arago. He left that service because he could not stomach how self-righteous the king was, and he now sells his sword in Dagsion. Chivalry and self-discipline matter to him, and he is happiest when quiet. The horse Rocinan, which came to him from his father, gets most of his attention.

On the field Io is a cavalry unit, and his personal ability With My Steed rewards striking first: he gains Shld+3 and Ddg+30 for that fight. His Dexterity and HP growths are both 45%, so he hits reliably and absorbs a few blows, but Speed at 35% means he will not double often. He prefers Axe, Rider and Spear skills and dislikes White Magic and Flier. The guide rates him D. His class line is Gladiator, Light Cavalry, Bardinger, Orichaldia, though the guide author finds Bardinger weak and would keep him in Light Cavalry.

He joins in Part 1 and can be recruited on any of the four lords' routes.
