Recruit

Plan

On Cai's route, recruit Yang Jie by reaching 2 support and 3 renown and by answering his recruitment questions correctly.

  1. Part I, chapter 1

Give Yang Jie a gift or share a meal/activity with him once per in-game week from the first free-time window, favouring gifts matching his stated likes (alcohol, tales of old, distant journeys), to raise his support level with the player to 2 before Part I chapter 3.† unverified

  2. Part I, chapter 1

Prioritise quests from the start of the route, including Cai's specialised Kindness Quests as soon as they appear alongside divine audiences, skirmishes and story progression, to reach renown level 3 by Part I chapter 3.† unverified

  3. Part I, chapter 3

Answer Yang Jie's recruitment questions correctly when his recruitment conversation triggers in Part I chapter 3.† unverified

Research notes
  • Give Yang Jie a gift or share a meal/activity with him once per in-game week from the first free-time window, favouring gifts matching his stated likes (alcohol, tales of old, distant journeys), to raise his support level with the player to 2 before Part I chapter 3. Why: Satisfies the 2S support component of Yang Jie's Cai-route recruitment gate.
  • Prioritise quests from the start of the route, including Cai's specialised Kindness Quests as soon as they appear alongside divine audiences, skirmishes and story progression, to reach renown level 3 by Part I chapter 3. Why: Satisfies the 3R renown component of Yang Jie's Cai-route recruitment gate.
  • Answer Yang Jie's recruitment questions correctly when his recruitment conversation triggers in Part I chapter 3. Why: Satisfies the "answer questions" extra of Yang Jie's Cai-route recruitment gate, a one-off dialogue sequence at recruitment.

Missing plan details

  • no chapter/renown-level correspondence found for Cai's route, so the chapter at which renown level 3 is actually reached cannot be stated
  • the specific questions Yang Jie asks, and the correct answers, are not recorded in the sources: only that questions must be answered
  • no source states support points per action or points per support level, so support pacing is assumed at roughly one action per in-game week

Story and profile

Who they are

Yang Jie is a wandering warrior monk from Bombae. He gave up monastic life and journeyed east to the Kingdom of Sai before he came to Dagsion. He fights and heals using techniques nobody can quite explain. Drink, tales of old, travel to distant places and protecting the weak are what he likes. He collects liquors and gives sermons.

He starts as a Diviner and plays as a healer with a deep HP pool. HP grows at 50% and he learns Physic at White Magic rank B. Magic at 40% is below the dedicated healers. Monkly Havoc restores his full HP after he defeats a foe, with a chance equal to half his Luck, so it only helps once he has started landing kills. He prefers Axe and White Magic skills and dislikes Rider and Sword. The guide rates him A from play on Dietrich's route, with the path Diviner, Priest, Bishop, Wiseman.

He joins in Part 1 and is recruited automatically on Dietrich's route.
