How do I farm gold?

There is no single best method. Sell spare weapons and items such as Coins and Bullion at the Shopping Arcade, and fight skirmishes on the world map, where a Gold Mummy can drop Bullion. Quests, Adventure Guide goals and the main-story battles all pay gold, and each paralogue pays 20,000 gold and 150 Renown. Set characters to Search as an inn auto-activity for slow, low-effort gold, and act at the theatre once your Renown reaches 8. The gold-per-hour rates are not yet documented.† unverified

How do I level up fast?

Clear dungeon Clashes: enemies come back only when the chapter changes, so clear each dungeon once per chapter. Fight skirmishes on the world map and chase the yellow-bar units before they flee; a Silver Mummy is worth a lot of experience. Let a weak unit land the killing blow, and heal or support allies for experience too. Buying the experience boost among the Boons of Salvation with Karma Shards helps across the whole game. Setting characters to Combat as an inn auto-activity levels them for you but costs turns. One player puts a typical run at about level 35 to 40 by the halfway point.† unverified

How long is the game?

Not yet documented. No guide this site has read gives a play-time figure. The story runs in three parts, you choose one of four lords for Part I, and Part II can be skipped route by route, so the total depends heavily on how many routes you play. The only length cue we hold is one player's level pace: around level 35 to 40 at the halfway point and level 60 or above by the end.† unverified

Can I skip Part II?

Yes, route by route. When a Part I path ends, the Strife Obelisk offers to play or skip that path's Part II, and skipping still carries that route's units into Part III. Game8 says a skip raises every unit's level by 5, while playing Part II lets you choose who you bring to each map and how they grow. The author's advice is to finish all four Part I routes first, then play Part II only for the army you care about most.† unverified

What does effective damage hit, and what counts as effective?

Spears are the weapon for mounted enemies: IGN says they are more effective, and Fextralife gives double damage. Bows are disputed: IGN says effective against mounted units, Fextralife says triple damage against flying units, so check the damage preview instead of trusting either. Magic is aimed at Resilience rather than Defence, which makes it the answer to heavy armour. A player also reports that an effective hit counts as two hits on a shield piece or barrier, which is a lead and not yet confirmed.† unverified

Can I rewind a battle?

Yes. Open the battle menu, choose to activate a Blessing, then pick Fortuna's Blessing and the action to return to. It unlocks in the first battle after the story first branches. Each use spends Divine Sand, which refills as the story moves on. The guides disagree on the cost: the Japanese guide says it rises on Hard, while the English Game8 table says it is free on Normal. Check your sand count after the first use.† unverified

Can I skip level-ups and skill prompts?

Yes. Hold Y to fast-forward skill-learned prompts and dialogue, including the dialogue during arena training. Level-ups can be skipped too: hold + to skip one, or press Start to clear every queued level-up at once, even when several characters level up in a row. Bond level-ups cannot be skipped with +, but holding Y works on them as well. The settings let you change + to skip on a press rather than a hold.† unverified

What should I do between battles?

Training at the arena and eating at the inn do not use a world-map turn (Game8 names only these two), so do them every week, along with gifts, temple visits and Bird Time. Support is the main lever for recruiting. Leaving Dagsion for the world map costs a turn (one turn is six hours), so visit quest locations in one continuous route. Resting at the inn spends a turn and gold to restore HP, magic uses and Motivation. The arena, theatre, thermae and gift shop close from midnight to 6:00.† unverified

What can I miss before the time skip?

The Missables page lists every item, scene, quest and recruit with a deadline in Part I, filtered by route, with what you lose if you miss it. The usual kinds are optional character scenes, Dread Warrior challenges, chests, Send Supplies and Perform quests, and recruits who join only if you act in time. Paralogues appear for a short window on the calendar, so accept each one before it lapses. New Game+ lets you replay a path from the start if you do miss something.† unverified

How does recruiting work?

A few characters are in your party from the start and others join automatically as the story runs. Most are recruited by meeting conditions: a Renown level, a Support level with a partner, a quest or battle, sometimes a payment in gold. Gifts are the main way to build Support, so start giving them to prospective recruits as early as you can. Some characters cannot be recruited at all on a given route. The Recruitment page lists the exact steps and any deadline for each character on each route.

Can I replay a chapter or raise the difficulty?

Completing a chapter saves a snapshot at the start of the next one, and each Flame Lord's progress is kept apart, so you can replay a chapter or switch lords from the Obelisk Chamber during Free Time. Descend Again changes mode, difficulty and character creation without losing story progress. Finishing the story does not unlock a harder difficulty than Hard; AppMedia checked and found no Lunatic setting.† unverified

Can I reset or reroll level-up stat gains?

Players tracking the level-up system report that a character's stat rolls follow a hidden random seed set when they join, and the lords seem to count as joined before chapter 1. Starting Act 1 fresh does not change your stats, and restarting from chapter 1 does not reset the seed: for units you have from chapter 1, the same rolls repeat until you have fully cleared Part 1 and Part 2; redoing the tutorial through Descend Again does not help. A Certification Exam moves the seed along by one level-up, so exams can be used to skip a bad roll, and exams already taken may have skipped good or bad ones. Outside Cai's route, changing outcomes this way is said to need heavy exam min-maxing.† unverified

This guide is free. If it’s helped you, a Ko-fi helps cover hosting.

So many players now use this guide that hosting has started to cost real money, and Ko-fi support has not been enough to cover it, so we have added a small amount of advertising: one ad at the end of a page, never a pop-up or anything over what you are reading. Visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland are asked first, and anyone can change or opt out under Ad choices at the foot of every page. If you would rather it went, please send feedback. With enough support, we will look at removing it.
