Plan

On Cai's route, Simon requires 3 support levels with him, 8 renown, and a coin flip resolved by picking Tails.

  1. Part I, chapter 1

Give Simon a gift or share a meal, arena drill, temple service or feast with him once per in-game week, from the first free-time window of the route, until his support level reaches 3.† unverified

  2. Part I, chapter 1

Prioritise every available quest from the start of the route, and clear Cai's route-specific Kindness Quests as soon as each new one appears, to reach 8 renown by Part I chapter 5.† unverified

  3. Part I, chapter 5

Pick Tails when Simon's recruitment coin flip is offered.† unverified

Research notes
  • Give Simon a gift or share a meal, arena drill, temple service or feast with him once per in-game week, from the first free-time window of the route, until his support level reaches 3. Why: Satisfies the 3S support component of Simon's Cai's-route gate. Gifts (one per character per week), shared meals at inns, arena training, temple service, world-map feasts, theatre and thermae all raise support; no liked-gift list was extracted for Simon, so use his Character Info screen 'Likes' to pick gifts.
  • Prioritise every available quest from the start of the route, and clear Cai's route-specific Kindness Quests as soon as each new one appears, to reach 8 renown by Part I chapter 5. Why: Satisfies the 8R renown component of Simon's Cai's-route gate. Quests are the largest single renown source; Kindness Quests are Cai's route-specific quest type; main-story progression, divine audiences and skirmishes also grant renown.
  • Pick Tails when Simon's recruitment coin flip is offered. Why: Satisfies the coin-flip (pick Tails) event component of Simon's Cai's-route gate. One-off recruitment event: coin flip (pick Tails).

Missing plan details

  • no chapter/renown-level correspondence found for Cai's route, so the chapter at which 8R is reached cannot be scheduled precisely
  • no source states which chapter or conversation triggers Simon's coin flip, or whether a wrong pick can be repeated
  • no source states how many free-time windows occur per Part I chapter on Cai's route, so the one-action-per-week support pacing is an estimate only

Story and profile

Who they are

Simon is a mercenary on Vandahl Trading's books, taken on by Talimun. He goes looking for the thrill of battle, and fighting to the death heads his likes. He chases women too, and likes the food of his hometown, Lavernaa. For hobbies he carves wooden figures and makes preserves.

He is an axe fighter on the Gladiator, Brigand, Warrior, Battlemaster path. Strength, Luck and HP are all 50%, with Defence 40%, which makes him tough and hard-hitting. Close Call can leave him on 1 HP when a blow would kill him, with a chance equal to his Luck, so his 50% Luck growth directly improves his survival. It is still a roll, so do not plan around it. Speed at 35% means he will not double often. Sword, Axe and Infantry proficiency opens Warrior. He is ranked B; Game8 and KeenGamer go a step higher. He joins in Part 1.
