Best characters
Ordered by how many published class guides put the unit in this class, then this guide's own class path, then how the unit's preferred skills match the class exam. Ties go to the higher guide tier. The plates under a lord’s name are the guide’s tier on that route; the dark plate is the guide’s overall tier; the outlined plate is the community tier from site votes.

Notes
- Pocket Tactics types Soldier as 'Heavy Infantry' specifically (not just 'Infantry'), which is retained here as the movement type despite Soldier having no Heavy weapon rank in Game8's own weapon list -- a naming inconsistency between the two sources, not resolved. CONFLICT: Fandom's generic Soldier infobox (fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Soldier) tags weapons with per-game annotations and marks both 'Sword' and 'Axe' as '(FE18 only)' -- FE18 is this wiki's internal code for Fortune's Weave -- implying Soldier may also carry a Sword proficiency in FW that Game8's own class-list page does not list (Game8: Axe D, Spear D only, no Sword). Flagged, not applied to the weapons field, since it contradicts the directly-fetched Game8 page already used as classes.json's source. No character in Game8's Best Classes guide starts as Soldier (all four observed Beginner starts are Ornius Rider, Gladiator, Hunter or Diviner) -- recorded as a gap.
