No source gives a numeric Free Time turn budget for Dietrich chapter 4, and no step below has a documented cost yet. Only Leda's route chapter 4 has a sourced turn figure anywhere (58 Turns), and it isn't corroborated for Dietrich.

  1. 1. Find and defeat Majide at the Lowtown Tavern.

    —

Forced story gate that opens the rest of the chapter. It clears your spot in the Heroic Games, unlocks Dietrich's Moving Shadow Blaze Art, and brings Mikaela into your party straight after.

  2. 2. Recruit Yang Jie with the token Mikaela just gave you.

    —

Free: no gift, gold or fight needed, and it's the chapter's only other guaranteed recruit besides Mikaela.

Yang JieExpires: Before the chapter 4 qualifier battle
  3. 3. Start “Granada's Thieves”.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Ends 30/4 and needs 2 days of travel to reach. It is the earliest-expiring documented quest this chapter, so it needs to be started first or the travel time alone can miss it.

See sidequestExpires: Ends 30/4 (needs 2 travel days)
  4. 4. Take “Knowing More About Him” in Dagsion.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Also ends 30/4, so it is the other quest on the chapter's tightest documented deadline, but this one needs no travel.

    See sidequestExpires: Ends 30/4
  5. 5. Take “Awaiting You at the Inn” from the Bulletin Board.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Rewards Sand-Boar Meat and 10 Renown; a much longer runway than the two above (ends 27/11) but it's a same-visit Dagsion pickup, so take it while you're there.

    See sidequestExpires: Ends 27/11
  6. 6. Take “Gifts of the Marketplace” from the Bulletin Board.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Rewards a Southern Ghosh (a gift item) plus 10 Renown at no gold cost, which makes it the cheapest first gift available this chapter.

    See sidequestExpires: Ends 27/11
  7. 7. Take “Searching for Smithing Stones”, “Welcome to the Item Shop” and “Swing by the Armory” while you're at their Dagsion vendors.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Same-visit Bulletin Board pickups (600 Gold + 30 Renown for 3 Smithing Stones delivered; a Vulnerary; a Wooden Sword), so there's no reason to make a second trip for these.

  8. 8. Take “Find Fellowship at the Temples” at the temple reception.† reported by an operator playthrough, not yet in a published guide

    —

Rewards a Ginji and 10 Renown for simply speaking to the temple reception, worth grabbing on your way to Divine Services below.

  9. 9. Follow the cat back to Dagsion to unlock Divine Services at Smyrnos's Temple.

    —

Opens temple service and blessings at every temple, plus Dietrich-exclusive Combat Art boosting at Smyrnos's specifically.

  10. 10. Serve at Credna's Temple first, before chasing any other Blessing.

    —

Game8's own Blessings ranking names Credna's the best first pick: its level-1 effect grants Visibility +5, which helps dispel Fog of War on every early map.

  11. 11. Do Bird Time at the Pale Raven's Perch with Mikaela.† our recommendation, not a documented fact

    —

Raises whichever unit you send's support with Eshmel specifically (not with Dietrich): no source ranks who to send first, so we suggest starting with your newest recruit.

  12. 12. Give the free Southern Ghosh from “Gifts of the Marketplace” to Mikaela or Yang Jie.

    —

The first gift to a character opens Meals with them for the rest of the route, regardless of whether it's one of their liked items, worth doing before you try to share a meal.

  13. 13. Start working toward Io's recruitment gate (Renown 3, Support 2, 800 Gold).† our recommendation, not a documented fact

    —

The cheapest gated recruit open from this chapter on Dietrich's route: every other gate needs a higher Renown/Support combination or isn't open until chapter 5+.

  14. 14. Buy any temporary weapons you need at the Shopping Arcade.

    —

The Blacksmith isn't open yet, so treat these as stopgaps rather than a real gear upgrade.

  15. 15. Use the Inn's automated activities to skip any remaining Free Time days, then start the qualifier battle.

    —

Closes out the window once everything above is done; the battle itself is the chapter's own trigger to end Free Time.

    Expires: Before calendar date 10/4

Avoid

  • Don't buy Weapons/Items shop discount Boons of Salvation yet. Game8's own priority guide calls these the lowest-priority Karma Shard purchase this early: Increased Exp and Gifts Discount come first. The guide author rates them third, after Gifts Discount and Increased Exp; see Boons of Salvation.
  • Give a first gift before you try to share a meal. A gift (any gift, not necessarily a liked one) is what opens Meals with a character at all, so a meal attempt before that gets you nothing.
  • Don't chase Kalla's Blessing first. Game8's Blessings ranking places it last, “not recommended if you're a more casual player”: Credna's Visibility +5 is the stronger opening pick. The guide author disagrees and starts Kalla and Mars early for Part II; see Getting started, Blessings.
  • Don't buy every gift you see in the shops. A beginner-guide caution: only buy gifts for characters you actually plan to recruit or support soon, to avoid a gold crunch this early.
  1. Karma Shards & Boons of Salvation: Increased Exp 10% (500 Karma Shards) first. Gifts Discount 10% (300) is the other pick, but RPG Site lists it as needing one finished Part I path.
  2. Quests / the Bulletin Board: Check the Bulletin Board every time you're in Dagsion: new quests appear per chapter and are worth doing immediately.
  3. Gifts: Give a gift to the first not-yet-bonded recruitable character you meet, to unlock Meals with them sooner.
  4. Arena training: Wait for a weekend where possible: training costs half as much Gold on Saturday/Sunday.
  5. Temple service & Blessings: Serve Credna's temple first; it is named as the best first Blessing to chase, for the Fog of War counter.
  6. Meals: Spend a unit's Motivation on Training, Acting or Temple Service before restoring it with a Meal or the Thermae, so you don't waste a full restore on an already-full gauge.

Daily habit: gifts, meals, Arena training. Both are cheaper on Sunday: if you miss it, train Saturday and pay full price for meals. ◇ our recommendation: the author's own daily routine See the full routine.

Weekly checklist: everything that repeats each week, split by what uses a turn.

Closing this chapter

  • Optional scene with Esmeralda at the Inn; optional scene with Mikaela and Mu at the shopping area; both time/visit-gated within the Free Time window (exact expiry not found).† unverified

    Consequence: not yet documented.

  • Optional scene south of the Lowtown Tavern, available once the tavern event has finished. It leads straight into a second event that includes a Clash.† unverified

    Consequence: not yet documented.

Alexandra
Alexandra

Recruiting Alexandra on Dietrich's route requires 3 support with her and 8 renown.

  • Give Alexandra a gift and pair it with a weekly meal, arena training, temple service, thermae or theatre session from the first free-time window, aiming for roughly one support-raising action with her per in-game week.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 3S support component of Alexandra's Dietrich's-route gate.

  • Prioritise quests from the Bulletin Board and Adventure Guide, taking every Challenge Letter as soon as it appears, alongside divine audiences and skirmishes, from the start of Dietrich's route.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 8R renown component of Alexandra's Dietrich's-route gate.

Benditz
Benditz

On Dietrich's route, Benditz requires 2S support and 7R renown.

  • Give Benditz a gift each in-game week, share meals with him at inns and pair with him in arena training, temple service, world-map feasts, theatre or thermae, aiming to carry his support to level 2 before Part I chapter 5.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 2S support component of Benditz's Dietrich route gate, which is Benditz's own support level with the player.

  • Prioritise quests from the start of Dietrich's route, especially Dietrich's route-specific Challenge Letters, alongside main-story progression, divine audiences, skirmishes (using Answerer's Cry to spawn hidden enemies where available) to accrue the 7R renown the gate needs.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 7R renown component of Benditz's Dietrich route gate.

Buccar
Buccar

On Dietrich's route, Buccar requires 3S support, 8R renown and clearing Leda's Paralogue.

  • Give Buccar one liked gift every in-game week (Rare Spices, Village Recipes, Mature Ghosh or Volcano Ghosh) and pair him with the player in meals, arena training, temple service, thermae or theatre until his support level reaches 3.† unverified

why: Satisfies the gate's 3S support component, which is Buccar's own support level with the player.

Gifts bought from the Shopping Arcade gift shop and the Tavern at Lowtown cheap-gift shop; other support activities per the Game8 support guide

  • Prioritise quests from the very start of the route (Dietrich's specialised Challenge Letters above all), plus divine audiences, skirmishes and main-story progression, to climb to 8R before recruiting Buccar.† unverified

why: Satisfies the gate's 8R renown component.

Quests are the largest single renown source; Challenge Letters are Dietrich's route-specific quest type

Opens later (1)
  • Opens at Part I, chapter 9

Accept Leda's Paralogue "Diversionary Tactics" inside its 2/9–8/9 window and clear it, since clearing it is what recruits Buccar.

why: Satisfies the gate's "clear Leda's Paralogue" component.

Paralogue "Diversionary Tactics", Dietrich's route, chapter 9

Catania
Catania

On Dietrich's route, Catania requires support level 1 with her and renown level 8 to be recruited.

  • Give Catania a liked gift every in-game week from the first free-time window and pair it with shared meals, arena training, temple service, theatre or thermae whenever they are available, to reach support level 1.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 1S component of Catania's Dietrich-route gate, which is her own support level with the player, raised by weekly gifts and shared activities.

  • Prioritise quests from the start of the route, clearing Dietrich's specialised Challenge Letters as soon as they appear each week, alongside main-story progress, divine audiences, skirmishes and paralogues, to build towards renown level 8.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 8R component of Catania's Dietrich-route gate, since quests are the largest single renown source and Challenge Letters are Dietrich's route-specific renown quest type.

Creek
Creek

Creek joins in Part II War Chapter 2 by being defeated in battle, but only if the Part I subquest "My Late Sister's Accessory" was cleared first, and missing that subquest forfeits the recruit.

Opens later (2)
  • Opens at Part I, chapter 9

Clear the Part I subquest "My Late Sister's Accessory", checking the Bulletin Board and NPC quest-givers from the first free-time window of Part I and completing it before Part I ends.† unverified

why: Satisfies the gate component requiring the Part I subquest "My Late Sister's Accessory" to be cleared before Creek can be recruited.

  • Opens at Part II, chapter 2

Defeat Creek in the Part II War Chapter 2 battle to recruit him, having already cleared "My Late Sister's Accessory" in Part I.

why: Satisfies the gate component that Creek joins in Part II Ch. 2 only after being defeated in battle.

Dadao
Dadao

On Dietrich's route Dadao requires 3 support levels, renown level 10, and 2x Kothar Gar, with the earliest recruitment opportunity at Part I chapter 4.

  • Prioritise every available quest and Dietrich's route-specific Challenge Letters from the start of the route to bank renown towards level 10.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 10R renown component of Dadao's Dietrich-route gate.

  • Give Dadao a gift and share one meal, arena session or equivalent support activity with him each in-game week until his support reaches level 3.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 3S support component of Dadao's Dietrich-route gate, aimed at Dadao himself rather than a third party.

  • Fish up 2x Kothar Gar at low-current freshwater spots and hold them in the convoy for Dadao's recruitment.† unverified

why: Satisfies the 2x Kothar Gar component of Dadao's Dietrich-route gate.

Fishing catch from low-current freshwater — not shop-sold, per planning-inputs.md Items table

Dante
Dante

Recruit Dante on Dietrich's route by reaching 2S support with her, 8R renown and 8000G.

  • Gift Dante every week from the first free-time window in Part I chapter 1 and stack shared meals, arena training, temple service, thermae and theatre with her until her support with the player reaches 2.† unverified
